Black Lives Matter Northern Utah is an independent chapter primarily focusing on Davis and Weber Counties. Our intention is in line with the national organization Black Lives Matter: connecting Black people who have a shared desire for justice to act together in our community. Further, we share the organizations guiding principles and work to uphold them (details also at the link above).
We affirm and encourage support for the other activist groups in our Utah community, including but not limited to, Ally Learning & Education, Racially Just Utah, Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault (UCASA), Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), Lifting Hands International, United Way Northern Utah, Indivisible Ogden and Peaceful Uprising.
Saying 'black lives matter' both literally and
figuratively restores people's dignity.
The mission of the Black Lives Matter Northern Utah chapter is to create an empowered community through engaging in various levels of compassionate care and advocacy for all marginalized people. Additionally, we work to promote one another, center Black and non-Black POC voices, and educate allies.
We are the force that will change Northern Utah for the better by creating strong, just, principled community relationships.
